We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Metallurgical Technician


This permanent and full-time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.


Our Metallurgy Technician will join a dedicated Metallurgy team. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, your role will be responsible for the timely and accurate sampling and analysis of process streams, analysis of current and future ores sources and the supply of process analytical reagents in a safe and professional manner.


The Opportunity


  • Ensuring gold recovery targets are met or exceeded in a safe and efficient manner by analysing production trends, developing & optimizing metallurgical KPIs and providing systems by which these parameters can be monitored by the process operations team.
  • Executing & reporting on metallurgical test programs and assist with the implementation & introduction of process metallurgical changes within the plant.
  • Developing an operational knowledge of unit processes and equipment within all areas of the process plant.
  • Providing technical input for department safety-training programs so that employees within other plant teams are provided with the opportunity to learn and apply skills that are aligned with the objectives of the metallurgical team and the company.
  • Identifying and suggesting improvement ideas to increase the safe production performance of the Moose River Processing Plant.
  • Creating timely and accurate records within the site metallurgical accounting system and provide reporting according to site requirements.
  • Monitoring & tracking of reagents and other consumables usage levels and compiling periodic consumption reports for plant & supply chain management.
  • Assisting with team and group operational and capital budgeting exercises including forecasting.
  • Rate of pay will be $26.00 per hour.

  • Relevant Metallurgical COOP experience
  • Experience writing technical reports.
  • Software skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Exposure to databases and experience with process operating data management software would be highly regarded.
  • Must possess a systematic approach to problems solving and decision making.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of repeated lifts of 50lbs
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Technical degree or diploma preferred.
  • Industry experience considered an asset.
  • Mineral processing or laboratory experience considered an asset.
