We are currently seeking a Mill Operations Superintendent to join our team. This is a full time permanent role at our Atlantic Operations Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. Reporting to the Mill Manager, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the mill processing facilities including: Crushing; Conveying; Grinding; Gravity; Intensive Leach Reactor (ILR); Cyanide in Leach (CIL); Elution; Cyanide Detoxification; Reagents, and the Mill Control Room.

The Opportunity:

  • Administering and enforcing compliance to company policy and all federal, provincial, and company regulations.
  • Continually coordinating work with Maintenance to ensure optimal operations and minimal downtime.
  • Assisting with planning and preparation of budgets for mill operations. Monitoring performance against budget and time schedule.
  • Communicating department status with supervisors and interface with other departments to ensure company's key performance indicators are met and in compliance with federal, provincial, and company regulations.
  • Interacting with cross functional departments, contractors and others to ensure safe production and optimal throughput and recovery are achieved and maintained.
  • Adhering to the principles of planned preventative maintenance, ensuring that equipment failures are the exception and plant life is maximized by sound capture of plant history and detailed planning.
  • Conducting StartSafe meetings, staff meetings, safety inspections and demonstrate a strong personal commitment to safety and the environment.
  • Developing a technically competent and credible team which will continuously improve the operation processes.
  • Providing training and growth opportunities to challenge team members while accomplishing objectives.
  • Responding to emergencies that could cause injury or loss to production; Conducting or assisting with investigations as needed, administer discipline where required.
  • Coordinating Mill operations, through the mill shift supervisors and the mill training coordinator to maintain and improve efficiency and health, safety and environmental standards established by the company.

  • Ten or more years of mill operations experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant mill operations management experience within the gold mining industry.
  • Familiar with federal, provincial, industry and local health and safety, and environmental regulations, as they relate to processing and mining operations.
  • Extensive experience with Crushing; Conveying; Grinding; Gravity; Intensive Leach Reactor (ILR); Cyanide in Leach (CIL); Elution; Cyanide Detoxification; Reagents, and the Mill Control Room.
  • Strong time management, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Train the Trainer Certification
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s License.
