Our client, a well-established motor vehicle brake system manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Millwright 433A to join their team of professionals in Smithville, ON.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Team Leader, the Maintenance Millwright will be responsible for maintaining machinery and equipment in an industrial setting, with a particular focus on the automotive industry.

*Candidate should have a minimum of five years experience to qualify for $36.95/hour

*If you are a 4th year Apprentice, you may be considered with Millwright/manufacturing experience at $33.26

Responsibilities

  • Strong troubleshooting ability in pneumatic, hydraulics, and mechanical equipment and must be able to weld for maintenance purposes.
  • Working knowledge of several systems, including hydraulics, pneumatic, pumps, ventilation, building facilities (power distribution, lighting, heating, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot problems on equipment that is PLC controlled (automated).
  • Experience with fully automated systems, including material handling, and should be familiar with and able to use standard tool room equipment such as lathe, mill, surface grinder, etc.
  • Experience with some or all of the following is preferred: mechanical presses, CNC lathes, automatic transfer machines, rectification, centerless grinders, gauging equipment, boilers, central coolant systems, filters, and pumps, and continuous flow through parts washer.
  • Must comply with all safety rules and company policies and apply all machinery and lockout procedures, as well as wearing safety clothing and equipment.
  • Be able to set up and use lathe, milling machines, surface grinders, band saws, cutting torches, welding machines (stick, MIG, and TIG), and brazing torches, and identify and use proper materials and fasteners, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloy and non-metallic materials, threading systems, nuts, bolts, and screws.
  • Receive oral and written communications, write maintenance and job reports to company requirements, read and interpret schematic drawings, plant drawings and documentation, and manufacturer's manuals.
  • Able to select, identify, and apply lubricants and greases for specific applications, install and maintain manual and automatic lubrication systems, and handle and store lubricants safely.
  • Install and maintain material handling systems such as conveyors, vibrators, drive units, and overhead cranes and hoists, ensuring that installation and maintenance are prescribed standards.
  • Identify and apply bearing elements, fits, and tolerances, such as plain bearings, thrust bearings, ball, roller, and needle bearings, identify, fit and maintain "O" ring and lip seal, apply chemical sealant, identify, install and maintain roller chains, sprockets, belts, and drive chains to prescribed standards.
  • Apply pneumatic principles and safety procedures.
  • Fire and maintain pressure, direction, and flow control valves
  • Install and maintain regulators and filters.oubleshoot pneumatic systems, ensure that installation and maintenance procedures are to prescribed standards and specifications
  • Apply hydraulic principles and safety procedures
  • Install and maintain power units, pumps, filters, accumulators, and heat ex changers, and ensure maintenance and installation procedures are to prescribed standards.

  • Advanced problem-solving abilities
  • String organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and written
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team
  • Strong knowledge of supplies and equipment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets **
  • Diploma in a related field, High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, and must have an up-to-date Millwright License (#433A) according to Ontario's Law.
