Description :
The Residential Resources Department has a fleet of 80 family and intermediate housing resources located mainly in the West Island and we are responsible for ensuring both access to the resources and the quality of the services offered.

The residential resources team is responsible for the patients housed in the various resources, from the planning of their arrival to their departure. With a view to recovery, it works closely with users, their loved ones, residential resources and community organizations to ensure that residents achieve the highest possible level of autonomy, social reintegration and normalization. The team includes social workers, psycho-educators, nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, criminologists and human relations officers. Guided by a positive vision of the person, it supports life projects by capitalizing on strengths, skills and resources rather than on the illness and difficulties.

The nurse working in the service is responsible for the deployment of training and certification on the administration of medication by non-professional interveners within the framework of Bill 90.

Main tasks :

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate education to users, their families and groups of people;
  • Participate in research aimed at health promotion and disease prevention;
  • Participate in research aimed at health promotion and disease prevention; Play a support role for clients living in the residential resources;
  • Contribute to the advancement of certain files related to the quality of service in the residential resources, such as the issue of extreme heat, the prevention of falls, the prevention and control of infections and the length of stay;
  • Participate in the management of hospitalization follow-ups and readmission of clients in the resources;
  • Provide AENP training (exception activities that can be assigned to non-professionals) on medication as well as post-training follow-ups to ensure that best practices are implemented;
  • Conduct audits on medication management and hygiene in non-institutional resources;
  • Acting as a support to our resources regarding the nursing component within the Residential Resources Department;
  • Participate in the evaluation of potential residents in order to optimize their needs in relation to the services offered by the caregivers and owners of the residences;
  • Actively participate in the promotion of physical health programs in the residential resources environment and provide education to the residential care providers;
  • Supporting the evaluation of the quality of care in the residential resources environment.

Requirements :
  • Hold a college diploma in nursing;
  • Be registered with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) for the current year;
  • Be able to establish a therapeutic relationship with a French and English-speaking clientele;
  • Have knowledge of the principles of interdisciplinary teamwork;
  • Be able to assess a clientele suffering from a mental health problem in the acute phase and refer them to the appropriate supports, if necessary;
  • Have experience and skills in group training to facilitate group workshops;
  • Knowledge and skills in teaching and providing support to families and residential care providers;
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of medication, its use and side effects;
  • Knowledge of the recovery model and ability to use it.
