Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for* the North Warning System (NWS). *The NWS is a joint Canada and United States* early-warning radar system* with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

MAIN R*ESPONSIBILITIES:

The Logistics Support Site (LSS) Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all Nasittuq operational and maintenance activities/projects within their respective zone.

This is a *part-time* rotational position (6 weeks on/6 weeks off) working a total of 26 week per year located in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Travel to/from home, accommodation and meals are provided.*

Plan, schedule, prioritize and direct all Zone activities in liaison with LRR Site Supervisors

  • Lead the LSS and Long Range Radar (LRR) operations, ensuring site activities/logistics are performed in a timely and safe manner
  • Ensure that all site personnel (employees, contractors, visitors) are provided all necessary training, indoctrination, and site briefings
  • Appoint staff for duties such as safety representatives and fire brigade members
  • Be familiar and ensure compliance of personnel (including contractors and visitors) to all safety plans, including plans specific to project activities, work permits and conducting site safety meetings and daily “toolbox” safety meeting for all personnel on site
  • Ensure reports and returns are completed and record events in the daily logbook
  • Provide recommendations and feedback in effecting design changes to improve efficiency of operations
  • Interface with internal and external customers, ensuring effective communication regarding status of all work and projects
  • Visit sites and conduct inspections of buildings and structures for damage or problems and report any observations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *

Must possess a degree or diploma in in a trade or a technical field

  • Minimum five (5) years' collective experience directly related to one or more requirements of this position
  • Demonstrated management experience within trade or technical field
  • Experience working in remote or arctic locations is a strong asset
  • Strong knowledge of operations and facilities maintenance in remote locations
  • Strong management and team leadership skills,
  • Strong organizational, communications, problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Adaptability and ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-culturally
  • Excellent safety acumen, demonstrating prioritization of safety at all times
  • Autonomy and initiative to work in a 'front-line' capacity and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to speak Inuktitut is an asset
