The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a driven OFA3 to join our growing team in Kitimat, BC. Reporting to the vessel Captain/Master the OFA3 is ambassador for Bridgemans and our safety management system in their personal conduct as part of the crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify inventory, inspect condition and dates, and report on of all first aid supplies and equipment each shift
  • Administer first aid and emergency support to ill or injured employees or contractors
  • Assess the extent of injuries or illness to determine the course of medical treatment
  • Document and record the nature of injuries and treatment provided
  • Conduct priority action and immobilization drills each shift
  • Follow direction of vessel master/operator as required, assist with limited deck duties

Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational First Aid – Level 3 (OFA3)
  • Reliable mode of transportation & valid BC class 5 driver’s license
  • Relevant marine experience preferred and an asset
  • Marine Emergency Duties MED-DVS / Radio Operators Certificate (ROC-MC)
  • Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice
  • Excellent comprehension and command of the English language; (written & verbal)
  • Ability to maintain composure, be firm, reassuring, and efficient in emergency situations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey medical information
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner

Physical Working Conditions

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Safety oriented and willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment
