Position Summary

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, Utilities, the 3rd Class Operator will be responsible for start-up and shutdown, monitoring equipment within the circuits, safe operation of circuits while maintaining settings and parameters, operating the DCS and overseeing and directing the workflow process. This position will provide a chance to work in a stable industrial environment with the potential for further skill development and growth.

The position will be based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.

Accountabilities

  • Maintaining plant operations and preparing equipment for maintenance activities, including issuing permits, lock out/tag out procedures and equipment shut down/start-up.
  • Troubleshoot process, circuit, or equipment upset conditions or issues.
  • Operate automated control systems.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment.
  • Measure temperature, flow, and pressure.
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunction.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery and components.
  • Maintain daily log of operation, maintenance, and safety activities
  • he candidate will be required to complete the Utilities progression system comprising of the powerhouse floor operator, water treatment operator and powerhouse panel operator.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate issued by ABSA and working towards a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • 3-5 years of related industrial experience.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts as part of a continuous rotation.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills (technical/mechanical aptitude).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
