ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Manufacturing Technology Specialist is responsible for interpreting customer drawings, and transcribing the information therein into JCA drawings, and other documentation, needed to build efficiently on the production floor. The Manufacturing Technology Specialist will also be responsible for wire harness design work. Other duties include supporting the Sales and Purchasing departments with alternate materials to address material shortages, building the BOM and Labour estimates in quotes for the Sales team, and managing the change of designs for our customers, as well as JCA designed products.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Production Method Creation

  • Ensure the accurate and timely approval of part methods to align with customer order dates and with production processes.
  • Create product documentation, work instructions, and testing components for all assemblies going through Production.
  • Responsible for production drawing reviews and performing redline changes.
  • Part number creation adhering to the JCA standard.
  • Creation of layup drawings and technical drawings for customer designs following JCA’s drawing standard.

Quoting

  • Manage priorities and meet quote deadlines to align with customer requirements.
  • Create BOM and labour estimates for customer and JCA designed products.
  • Accurately determine and communicate MOQ and Order multiples for quotes.
  • Perform technical quote analysis to provide justification for price increases.
  • Work with Purchasing department to ensure accurate material pricing is included in the quote.

Change Management

  • Manage revision changes for both customer and JCA designed products by creating and approving new revisions in our ERP system.
  • ECN deployment for wire harness, control panel, electronics, and software changes.
  • Manage the impact of the change following our change review processes. This includes but is not limited to; review inventory to manage the consumption of existing stock, review open purchase orders to ensure proper transition to new part numbers, review change approvals, update documentation, and drive appropriate demand for the new product.
  • Manage material inventory related to product change to ensure we consume, scrap and transition from one assembly to another.
  • Drive the correct transactions in the MRP system to control demand and cutover during design changes.

Design Support

  • Work with the JCA Engineering team to create new designs and drawings for JCA wire harnesses, and setup for software used in JCA products.
  • Work closely with JCA engineering project teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Modify methods for existing JCA designs to incorporate any required changes.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

EDUCATION:

  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree or Technologist diploma is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant experience in the Electrical/Electronic manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with reading and understanding datasheets for electronic/electrical components.

SOFTWARE / TECHNOLOGY:

  • Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

SKILLS:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and create schematics and drawings.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
