ROLE PURPOSE : Manages the responsible area (all shifts), by ensuring that all aspects of production, food safety and quality are met. Sets goals and objectives for this area.

2:00 PM - 12:00 AM


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

Include the major duties and responsibilities of the role. These are activities that generally take up approximately 10% or more of the overall time spent in the role.

1.Manages the responsible area (all shifts), by ensuring that all aspects of production, food safety and quality are met.

2.Ensures all aspects of the operation are followed and enforced (e.g. safety, quality, yield, , union issues, HACCP, BRC, etc.) on a daily basis, and that all Supervisors are following established guidelines and expectations on productivity, quality, and safety.

3.Liaise as with other departments to ensure all plant expectations are met.

4.Ensures that all products manufactured in the department meet the company and customer requirements.

5.Participates or assigns an employee when new products are developed, and during plant trials.

6.People Management:

  • Provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors or managers.
  • Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance
  • Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.

7.KPI:

  • Monitor the operational performance of area of responsibility against approved Labour variance targets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential performance improvement opportunities are improved.

8.Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Recommend, develop and implement enhancements and improvements to departmental policies and procedures.

Ensure that all employees under position leadership, follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.


NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three years of Supervisory / Management experience in a food manufacturing industry, preferably meat, and in a unionized environment;
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
