The Stewart lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in translational stem cells and regenerative strategies. Our research focus is to enhance stem/progenitor cell regenerative/repair activity in relevant preclinical models of cardiovascular diseases.

The successful candidate will report directly to Dr. Duncan Stewart and work closely with our team of research associates, technologists, and graduate students as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and will be encouraged to foster collaborations and translate their research findings.

Responsibility
  • Lead the development of research studies
  • Design, conduct and analyze the relevant experiments
  • Foster collaboration within the lab, across the OHRI research programs and external research partners
  • Lead manuscript preparation and create presentations for internal and external dissemination
  • Document lab experiments, data collection and analysis
  • Support and contribute to peer-led research projects being conducted in the lab

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):
  • PhD in Laboratory Medicine, Experimental Pathology or Medical Science (or related field of study)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in independently designing and conducting research studies
  • Experience in cell biology and related technologies; minimum 5 years
  • Strong publication record
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to excel in leading independent projects, as well as, collaborating in a multi-disciplinary research environment
  • Candidates must have completed their PhD less than 5 years ago

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with stem or progenitor cells
  • Demonstrated research experience in cardiovascular and/or animal models is an asset but not required
  • Technical proficiency with genomic techniques (bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, etc.), programming/scripting, and bioinformatics utilities are an asset

Contract Details:
This is a 1-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal.
The minimum stipend is $22.564 (salary is based on research experience) with an excellent benefits package.
