Winpak's location in Winnipeg, Manitoba is currently searching to fill the position of: Printing Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor and under the direction of the Press Operator, assists the Operator with the safe operation of the press according to the Printing Department Goals and Objectives. The Assistant is expected to work towards developing the skills required to safely operator and run the assigned press.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist the Operator with the preparation of orders for the shift to minimize downtime time and reduce production scrap/waste.
  • To assist the Operator with the safe and efficient running of the press with the emphasis on maintaining continuous operation of the machine.
  • Ensures consistent color on press by accurately monitoring viscosities at regular intervals; monitor and maintain Auto Viscosity in good working order.
  • To assist with general maintenance and lubrication of the printing presses.
  • Maintain workspace and work area to meet Winpak and Department 5S objectives.
  • Safe and efficient operation of walkie lift truck.
  • Monitor press while Operator is on breaks or meetings.
  • Special projects as assigned (ie. Training)
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation and effective communication within the department and Company. Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak TQI and Lean programs.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 standards, Department SOPs and Department Best Practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • One year previous work experience within industry preferred
  • Mechanically inclined, good aptitude working around machines, and good organizational skills.
  • Required to take WHMIS training, to pass related written test. Update test to be taken every two years.
