THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Process Engineering Technologist will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes at DSM. This role will support and interact with all stakeholders and require strong initiative to improve processes. This position requires someone who has the availability to work afternoon shifts and periodic overtime.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Program and support Surface Mount Technology and related processes
  • Design and ordering of tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing processes
  • Provide training to manufacturing staff to enhance process knowledge
  • Complete documentation of production processes (procedures, work instructions, mapping) to create flow and understanding
  • Identify, develop and implement continuous improvement processes
  • Understand and apply IPC and J-STD requirements to all areas of manufacturing
  • Improve quality yields by utilizing design for manufacturability feedback
  • Facilitate and support project implementation through cross functional teams
  • Analyze and interpret manufacturing data leading to direct application
  • Oversee/support machinery installations to ensure functionality
  • Utilize DSM's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure process and product conformity
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial, Manufacturing engineering or a related discipline
  • 3-6 years experience in a Contract Electronics Manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Siemens (ASM) SMT placement capability and limitations is an added advantage
  • Able to interpret and review customer data sets to ensure products are built to specifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to clearly and concisely convey information through dialogue with all departments
  • Able to develop and implement training to improve knowledge
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Industry software experience with JMP is an asset
  • Knowledge of IPC 610 and J-STD standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills – ability to identify and effectively resolve problems
  • Quick study – ability to learn new processes and technologies
  • Self-directed and can work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results in a fast paced environment
