ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Operations Manager to join our Process Plant Operations team reporting to the Deputy General Manager.


Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.


The Process Plant Operations Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership for plant operations and ensuring the plant meets or exceeds its it’s safe production objectives. This role works collaboratively with the Process Plant Maintenance Manager and maintenance team. The incumbent must be willing to relocate to the Cochrane/Timmins area, as will work a blended roster consisting of a 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 rotation.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Manages Process Plant Operations with the objective of minimizing costs and maximizing revenue;
  • Provides direction and monitors production plans, schedules and reports;
  • Establishes and monitors metallurgical control, grade reconciliation, and security requirements;
  • Manages the Plant Operations budget as well as all sustaining capital requirements;
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and legislated requirements;
  • Leads a team of professionals and provides day-to-day direction and training for the Process Plant Team;
  • Implements best practices and seeks continuous improvements in safety performance.

QUALIFICATIONS


Our ideal candidate has:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Metallurgy) or relevant experience;
  • P. Eng designation preferred;
  • 5+ years of relevant professional work experience within a large scale process plant environment;
  • Demonstrated success leading and mentoring a team of professionals;
  • Influential with strong negotiation skills;
  • Strong computer aptitude with proficiency in MS Suite and SAP;
  • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment an asset;
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Timmins/Cochrane area.
