Job Responsibilities:

• Provide a positive working environment and handle issues appropriately and in a timely manner
• Set up and maintain the condition of the produce department according to company standards
• Provide customer service and ensure product quality and selection
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast, friendly customer service
• Address customer issues and determine optimal solutions
• Engage in suggestive selling and other sales technique
• Perform receiving duties including: verifying orders against invoices, stacks, prices, and marks merchandise
• Trim, cut, wrap trays, displays and water produce
• Prevent shrink, damage and spoilage of product
• Build produce displays, rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product to ensure freshness and quality
• Use of related equipment such as knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks and pallet jacks
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
• Maintain the eye-appeal of the department
• Responsible to ensure optimal inventory levels
• Practice and promote company policies and ensure compliance with all safety procedures
• May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis
• Creativity and willingness to learn
• Shift flexibility required

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Previous produce experience considered as asset
• Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
• Must possess good communication skills
• Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks
• Ability to use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
• Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic math, and weights and measures.
• Ability to learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, and perishability of product, and department policies and procedures
• Must have good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation, kitchen safety and food presentation
• Knowledge of food preparation/presentation for a wide variety of food items

• Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
• Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
• Will involve frequent repetitive hand actions
