Your role
For more than 50 years, Radio-Canada’s La semaine verte has been informing the general public about issues that are now more topical than ever. The long-running environmental show aims to educate viewers while fostering an appreciation for the countryside, portraying the people who live, study and work there in a sensitive light. Its stories provide a window into life in all its forms, exploring the flora and fauna of our waterways, lands and forests.
In your role as producer, you will help create stories and visuals for La semaine verte. We are looking for someone who is creative, thorough and open to innovative storytelling techniques that can take the show to the next level. You must enjoy teamwork, be a self-starter and have keen editorial judgment.
This position is based in Radio-Canada’s Quebec City station. You must be able to travel occasionally for shoots.
Key tasks:
  • Help conceive current affairs items in tandem with one or more reporters.
  • Plan shoots in the field and interviews (locations, technical requirements, etc.).
  • Co-ordinate shoots in the field with reporters and technicians.
  • Plan and oversee content post-production.
  • Select music and design a sound environment.
  • Ensure that the show’s editorial direction is maintained at all stages of production.
  • Ensure that stories are produced in compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Actively participate in the life of the programming team by sharing ideas and attending group meetings.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • University graduation in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) years’ relevant production experience
  • Familiarity with the latest trends in TV and digital production
  • Leadership, creativity, team-playing attitude, independence and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work well under pressure on multiple projects simultaneously and with tight deadlines
  • Experience producing journalistic stories or documentaries
  • Knowledge of editing software an asset
  • Camerawork skills and an eye for framing an asset
  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Good knowledge of English is an asset
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French
