As a product-centric company, Borrowell is looking to add a creative and passionate Product Designer to our team. Reporting to our Senior Director of Design, you will be collaborating cross-functionally with our Product, Data, Marketing, Engineering, Revenue, and Member Experience teams to design, launch, optimize, and test features. Youʼll drive impactful decision-making informed by user research, industry trends, and data analyses. If you're excited about taking ownership over results and want to be part of building one of Canadaʼs fastest growing fintech companies, this is the role for you!

  • Building and maintaining Design systems
  • Cross-functional agile teams (e.g., Product, Design, Engineering, Data, Marketing)
  • Using UX Research to guide decisions

Nice to Haves:

Interview Process:

We don't believe you should be jumping through 8 hoops to land a role. To that end, we try to keep our processes lean and upfront:

  • 20~30 minute phone call with me, the Senior Recruiter (nice to meet you!) - I've hired the majority of our Product pods for the past 3+ years, so please feel free to ask me anything you're curious about
  • 30 minute virtual chat and general portfolio review with the Senior Director of Design
  • 1 hour virtual meeting with 2 Product members, where you present and deep dive into a past project you've worked on with Q&A - spec work is a blight on this industry, so we want to ensure this is not homework for you to do for us, but walking through something you'd already made
  • 45 minutes virtual chat with our VP of Product and our Senior Engineering Manager

Benefits

We are remote-first across Canada, meaning you have no mandatory obligation to come in-office unless you choose to do so - you decide what is best for you. Our offices are located in Toronto and Kelowna, with people distributed across the country. We do not intend on changing this remote-first status.

At Borrowell, one of our core values and firm beliefs is that diversity makes us better. If you're unsure about your qualifications for this position, we'd still encourage you to apply. We're looking for candidates who have experience, but know that not everyone's had a chance to demonstrate what they can do. What's most important is that you have a growth mindset and care about helping people with their finances - an area in their lives that causes a lot of stress.

Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the work we do, clearing a credit and criminal record check is a condition of employment.

Borrowell encourages applications from candidates with differing abilities. Please let us know if you require accommodation at any stage in the selection process.

Here at Borrowell, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine. We welcome all people making use of the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) program to apply and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
