We are currently looking for a Product Designer to join our team at Inscape.

About the Opportunity:

The Product Designer will design, develop, prototype and engineer product development projects from inception through to the final stages of development. The Product Designer will support the development of new products and work with the appropriate people and tools to accomplish the job. This role must interact with employees both inside and outside of product development in order to see the project through to the final stages of development. The working conditions for this role are approximately 70% office and 30% factory.

Responsibilities & what you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for specialization in design, development, prototyping, engineering development and documentation of the assigned new product developments.
  • Generate design concepts, design 3D Solidworks / Creo models, coordinate prototype development and prepare final engineering drawing documentation.
  • Coordinate the execution of assigned projects to completion based on established product development procedures and practices.
  • Collaborate with required departments or individuals to ensure the timely completion and success of assigned projects.
  • Offer recommendations, where appropriate for the improvement of products or processes.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested by the Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for designing with in-house, industry and legislated standards in mind.
  • Responsible for improving quality and productivity of processes, products and services and maintaining compliance to ISO 9000.
  • Responsible for reviewing Bifma level E3 standard and ensuring all new product design initiatives adhere to the DFE requirements.
  • Coordinate projects with the NY Walls team, which may require travel for in-person collaboration, development and implementation.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Must hold a degree/diploma in Engineering or Industrial Design with a minimum of three years of experience, or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of product development process, design practices, and manufacturing processes (including Sheet Metal, Extrusion and Molding/Casting).
  • Must understand product design, concept generation, CAD (Solidworks and/or Creo), and project coordination.
  • Computer literate with a general knowledge of network and PC based computer applications.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and concept visualization skills.
  • Must have excellent product knowledge and knowledge of furniture industry standards.
