At Pacific Smoke International, our mission is to help people quit smoking by providing safer alternatives to traditional cigarettes. As the leading distributor of electronic vaporizers and award-winning vaping products in Canada, we've made significant progress since our founding in 2013. However, we have much more to accomplish for our customers, and we're looking for a culturally aligned Product Designer to join our dynamic team located in Markham.

In this role, you will report directly to the Web Team Lead and play a vital role in aiding and supporting the B2B and DTC websites. Your primary responsibilities will include improving web apps and enhancing digital marketing space for PSI.

The Product Designer will:

  • Manage the creation and improvement of functions by applying research, ideation to launch using UI/UX principles. Examples of success are increasing user base and conversation rates, intuitive journeys, seamless reporting abilities, and ensuring our backend can run efficiently with factors like complex segmentation and data matrices.
  • Create top-notch Figma UI/UX templates from low to high fidelity designs that include site structure, flows, and wireframes.
  • Using judgment to balance the trade-offs between speed, cost, company goals, design, feature options, and implementation complexity to ensure development agencies deliver on time without errors.
  • Propose middle-ground solutions between internal stakeholders’ (brand managers, operations, customer service, sales team, and end users) demands and development capabilities. Achieving this will involve out-the-box thinking design processes and internal business acumen.
  • Seek new qualitative and quantitative data via market visits, cross-functional meetings, user research/surveys, and usability studies. In addition, leverage existing data and business metrics to validate user journeys, hypotheses, assumptions, and improvements.
  • Advocate for improving design thinking and agile methodology throughout the organization by continuously learning the trends. In addition, act as a customer advocate to ensure our products provide top-notch experiences and conversions.
  • Responsible for implementing marketing tools such as loyalty programs, subscriptions, compound promotions, subscriptions, rebates, credits, segmentation (by province, VIP accounts, distributors, wholesalers, franchises, convenience stores, mom-and-pop shops), pricing matrices, cart rules, payment methods, dashboards, email platforms, Google Analytics, heat mapping, upselling/cross-selling, cart abandonment.
  • Consult with development agencies to ensure data points pertinent to the solution(s) maps smoothly between our ERP systems, B2B/DTC websites, web apps, SEO, and digital tools. This also includes the migration of data, content, and customers across platforms.
  • Set User Acceptance Tests to ensure development agencies and the internal Web Team runs the tests to identify and fix any errors before launch. Reproduce errors, document its frequency, and work with agencies to solve them.
  • Source, screen, and onboard new external development agencies, app extensions and platforms that work best with our agile needs, budget, and timelines.
  • Accountable for updating Standard Operation Procedure documents with the most up-to-date steps to updating our platforms and training the Web Team to follow these steps.
  • Provide prompt progress updates and complete all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manager / Team Lead (i.e., employee photos).

To be successful you should have:

  • At least 2 years of user experience and web implementation.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in E-commerce/Web Programming.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in User Experience.
  • Proficient using Figma or equivalent along with Photoshop competency to mockup low-to-high fidelity templates.
  • Proficient in Office 365, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS and pseudo-coding is an asset.
  • Experience with Magento and Shopify CMS platforms are all assets.
  • Judgment skills to identify root problems rather than what the user is expressing.
  • A highly analytical individual who breaks down ambiguous challenges into low-level steps with minimal guidance.
  • An advocate and master of agile methodology.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively to management, cross-functional departments, peers, and end users.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives on creating rapid prototypes and implementation to meet the needs of our fast-paced industry.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English is required.
  • A rich portfolio that proves the above with case studies using research, UI/UX wireframing iterations, ambiguous situations, outcomes, and metrics that lead up to KPI metrics.
