Product Development Engineer

Position Summary:

The Product Development Engineer is a primary team member with responsibility of sourcing components, finding new sources for critical items, to support new product development design, prototypes, qualification testing and to support manufacturing with production builds. As a cross functional team member, you will also work with Purchasing and procurement, Quality and be active in our Continuous Improvement program.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Participate in new product and/or option design and implementation.

· Build and design prototypes for review, perform test and finalize product design to facilitate mass production.

· Perform market researches to understand market requirements and initiate innovative product development.

· Analyze new components, materials and technologies to evaluate functionality for all new product development.

· Participate in and promote continuous product improvement initiatives.

· Prepare comprehensive project plans with technical objectives and detailed cost estimates.

· Analyze product cost and prepare schedule plans for effective implementation of projects.

· Approve prototypes of new designs, conduct performance analysis of prototypes and ensure assemblage of products follow company requirements and quality parameters.

· Participate in the design of innovative production techniques and provide support to existing ones for new product design roll out.

  • Technically support sales and marketing efforts as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years design experience in the fenestration industry an asset
  • Experience developing and dealing with supply partners
  • Technical degree or education related to an ability to design products
  • Ability to Travel as responsibilities require

Compensation:

To be determined based on experience, especially within the window & door industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
