Where does the Product Development Engineer fit in?

The Product Development Engineer will support various departments by providing direction and assistance regarding materials and materials engineering. The Product Development Engineer will research new process and technologies, conduct studies and experiments, provide technical guidance and oversight, as well as support in internal and external meetings with customers as well as suppliers. The Product Development Engineer will champion material related R&D activities in order to meet functional goals within time and budget constraints.

What can you expect as our next Product Development Engineer?

  • Benchmarks existing materials, parts and processes.
  • Research new technologies, materials, and processes to understand their benefits, limitations, and required investment.
  • Provide technical input on material selection, process development, material properties and experimental / testing methods
  • Lead material development initiatives to achieve measurable results on time and on budget
  • Support sales and quoting team to investigate and suggest alternate materials
  • Support production team for DoE setup and execution
  • Work with suppliers and customers on material formulation to achieve goals such as cost reduction or performance improvements
  • Lead material root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Other tasks as required

Are you our next Product Development Engineer?

  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field with focus on thermoplastics and injection molding
  • Demonstrated experience developing advanced thermoplastics and composites for industry or academic institutions
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi task as required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license.
