Position: Visiting Suites Coordinator

Position Profile: The coordinator will oversee the program of Visiting Suites. He/She will schedule staff and arrange scheduling of transportation for the program. The coordinator will train new staff, develop written protocols and prepare reports for Ministry.

Position Reporting: This position reports to Director(s)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule the staffing required for visits.
  • Schedule the staffing required for transportation.
  • Supervise staff hired for the visitation, supervision and transportation programs
  • Supervise visits when there are one or more visits at one time
  • Organize training for staff and oversee the training requirements of staff.
  • Track and prepare statistical and written program reports that are to be submitted back the Ministry.
  • Liaise with the Ministry staff on a daily basis with respect to referrals, troubleshooting, and so forth.
  • Schedule and Co-ordinate visits for all participants recommended for involvement in family visits as per the referral instructions received from the Ministry.
  • Schedule the transportation of children, youth and family members (significant adults) in order to facilitate visits, as per instructions provided on the referral form from the Ministry.
  • Track progress of family visits, for example, oversee and supervise staff to prepare reports and keep file records on visits/clients/families.
  • Prepare written reports, and oversee and supervise staff to prepare both written and verbal feedback to parents and to the Ministry regarding family strengths, observations/assessments about areas where parenting during visits can be improved, as well as any other pertinent information regarding interactions between parents and children.
  • The Coordinator of the program may be required to liaise with foster parents to ensure transportation arrangements are made so that foster parents and birth parents build a trust relationship, ensuring and facilitating an open and transparent relationship between the foster parents and the birth parents.

· Collect data that can be used for the ongoing evaluation of the program and report back to the Ministry with information collected.

· Work with Ministry staff designing evaluation frameworks for the program.

· Track rescheduled or missed visits, provide written reports back to Ministry regarding rational provided by participants and/or detail the circumstances for the missed visits.

· Participate in case conferences chaired by Ministry Social Work staff, both without and along with family members when requested by the Ministry

· Other duties as assigned.

Education:

· Bachelor of Social Work or BISW Degree or related field of study and/or suitable combination of training and extensive experience in working with individuals involved with the Ministry of Social Services.

· Standard First Aid and CPR (Level B)

· Experience working with individuals and families who have been involved in a high risk lifestyle.

· Ability to speak a First Nations or Métis language is an asset.

· Knowledge and understanding of the history of First Nation and Métis and their socio-economic backgrounds.

· Knowledge of alcohol/drug recovery and relapse dynamics is an asset.

· Satisfactory criminal and vulnerable persons record check.

· Must have a working knowledge of windows-based computer software programs
