Production Technician Job at Precision Technology Services

Precision Technology Services Cambridge, ON

Contact Lens Production Technician

Job description

You’ve been searching for an entry-level opportunity where you’re guaranteed on-the-job training and stability. If you’re ready to start your career doing work you can take pride in, then come join us as our new part-time lab production technician!

We’re Precision Technology Services and we strive to improve lives by restoring the gift of sight to people with limited vision. As one of the last remaining Canadian owned-and-operated specialty lens labs in the country, we provide leading edge ophthalmic products and training to eye care practitioners and their patients.

Lab Production Technician:

In this position, you will report directly to the Lab Production Manager and your goal is to support our lab in the production of contact lenses.

We’ll provide you all the on-the-job training you’ll need to be successful. Your primary responsibility will be packing, labeling, and shipping contact lenses. You will also receive training on lens production. Our lenses are cut using CNC lathes, which you will learn to operate. You’ll prepare the materials and set the computer up with the right instructions.

Over time, you’ll also get your hands on a bit of everything, In no time, you’ll be able to jump right in to help with any step of production.

The Right Fit:

While some production experience would be an asset, we’re more concerned about who you are, rather than what you’ve done. All our best lab production technicians share these qualities:

  • You have good finger dexterity – You enjoy making things with your hands and take pride in good artisanship.
  • You’re detail-oriented – your accuracy and attention to detail will ensure our production quality remains consistently excellent.
  • You’re a true team player – you’re always willing to lend a hand wherever you’re needed. You see any opportunity to help your team as an opportunity to learn.
  • You have a problem-solving mentality – you’re a natural trouble-shooter and take satisfaction in solving tricky problems using logical thinking and creativity.
  • You’re a strong communicator – good communication among our team members is critical to our success.

Working @ Precision Technology Services:

This is a full-time, permanent position working in our Cambridge lab Monday to Friday, 8:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Ask our team what it’s like to work here and they will tell you we are a close-knit, supportive team. We enjoy a casual work environment, while still getting lots done. We have low turnover and much of that is due to a positive work environment.

The medical device industry in Canada is prospering. This role offers you an opportunity to build a long and meaningful career in an industry that helps people live life to the fullest. If you show interest, initiative, and aptitude, we would love to invest in you.
