We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Programmer in the Medical Physics department at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays: 8hrs, Days, As per schedule


Summary of Duties:

The Medical Physics department at the Odette Cancer Centre (OCC) is seeking a full-time permanent programmer

The programmer will:

  • Design, develop and support workflow and messaging tools and reporting interfaces with the MOSAIQ radiation oncology information system (ROIS) system and other quality assurance databases within the RT department
  • Engage with end-users, consolidating clear, subject-specific reports, encouraging consistent messaging and providing support to track key performance indicators (i.e. workflow metrics, patient wait times).
  • Work closely with medical physicists and electronics technologists
  • Develop workflow and messaging tools that communicate with existing RT information systems
  • Develop interfaces with SQL database that allow decision-makers to track, plan and analyze clinical operations
  • Evaluate data with machine learning algorithms for improving operational decision-making
  • Create SQL queries and complex SQL joins, triggers, external interfaces and post-processing algorithms
  • Perform data preparation activities including exploration, cleansing, validation, integration, transformation, and aggregation of data for machine-learning and automation of clinical decision-making
  • Provide production support including resolving issues related to the database(s) and interface engine, and ensuring all project work aligns with existing corporate systems and standards
  • Participate in the analysis and resolution of issues related to information content, data integrity, integration, and performance
  • Design and implement consolidated RT data warehouses, including database design, ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, access and security
  • Develop ETL processes and re-usable packages according to standards reflecting industry-specific best practices
  • Conduct proactive database monitoring to identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with MS SQL 2014 or later and SQL Express
  • Experience with VB.net, C#, ASP.net, HTML5/CSS, XML mark-up and Google Visualization API
  • Familiarity with AI and ML in healthcare
  • Analytical abilities and ability to work effectively with a variety of end-users including system administrators, clinicians, medical physicists, managers, and project teams
  • Ability to create technical, functional, and requirements documents
  • Extensive familiarity with Matlab (R2009a – 2018a) including GUIDE, DB Toolbox and Compiler
  • Prior experience with BI and data warehouse projects with a hospital
