POSITION OVERVIEW

In this role, you will take ownership and responsibility for projects and lead a multidisciplinary team to see projects through to completion. Your responsibilities will include planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects; reviewing reports and memoranda; preparing design documentation; liaising with clients and contractors; and leading and preparing proposals. Your role will also include coordinating with and directing engineers, designers, and drafters to accomplish project goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will involve the following:

  • Assisting project managers with overall project performance including project start-up, budget costs, schedule, project status, and efficient project close-out;
  • Assisting in overall project engineering design coordination;
  • Providing technical evaluations for the development of design and construction standards in the project as well as maintaining the design and construction standards;
  • Ensuring that engineering work on the project is completed in accordance with engineering plans and project health and safety requirements;
  • Coordinating engineering work between engineering disciplines, and between other project groups; and
  • Monitoring the progress and performance of the design scope and taking corrective action where necessary to control engineering work within the budget and schedule.

WHO YOU ARE

Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • 5–10 years of project engineering/management experience, including managing, coordinating, and implementing multi-discipline engineering projects;
  • 5–10 years with progressive mining and/or materials handling experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC;
  • Experience in preparing and applying design criteria, industry standards, specifications, reports, and proposals;
  • Excellent organization skills;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in workflows of all engineering disciplines; able to recognize gaps and bottlenecks and recommend appropriate adjustments;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill and ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants;
  • Ability to apply problem solving skills to resolve issues on a contextual basis;
  • Ability to understand and execute project scope and deliver within designated budget and schedule;
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment while interacting with co-workers, clients, and contractors and supervising junior engineers and designers;
  • Robust skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project;
  • Strong attention to detail; and
  • A valid BC driver's licence.
