Empowered by the First Nations Leadership Council and in partnership with the provincial and federal governments, the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) is responsible to 203 First Nations in BC. Our mandate is to reduce the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system and to support Nations as they move to sovereignty over justice.

Position Summary:
The Purchaser/Asset Manager (PAM) is responsible for purchasing and procurement, asset tracking and lifecycle management for The BC First Nations Justice Council’s (BCFNJC) assets and equipment. The PAM will collaborate with staff, vendors, and partners to provide exceptional service to meet operational and organizational objectives. It is the PAM’s responsibility to develop and shepherd the purchasing, tracking and asset lifecycle of BCFNJC assets in accordance with established IT and Finance policies.

In this role as a PAM, you will have an understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem including MS 365 applications such as MS Teams, Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). You will have a working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct. You are adaptable, flexible, responsive and can communicate complex concepts into easy-to-understand explanations. Our ideal candidate will have experience as a purchaser or warehouse manager or will have a bookkeeping background. This is an entry level position and training will be provided. Exceptional problem solving and communication skills are required to ensure that assets are tracked and delivered in a timely and cost-effective way.

You will be a key member of the BCFNJC team and as a leader you will be expected to uphold the virtues of dignity, respect, and compassion. You will exhibit patience and have a fundamental understanding of the experiences of Indigenous people and their history in our province, and how those experiences shape our workplace.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests for assistance in a timely manner with a strong sense of delivering Exceptional Client Service.
  • Work with available technology to make recommendations and/or requests organically as needs are presented.
  • Follow and help shape organizational processes and procedures.
  • Create Purchase Orders (POs) in the financial system.
  • Order, receive, and track BCFNJC assets.
  • Establish new vendor relationships and maintain vendor agreements.
  • Manage and coordinate the inter-office and departmental shipping needs throughout the organization.
  • Receive assets, record serial numbers and distribute assets to staff.
  • In addition to Purchasing and Asset Management, actively participate in multiple projects.
  • Implement and adhere to appropriate policies, including change management.
  • Various other duties as required.
  • Occasional travel throughout BC will be required.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
  • 1 year experience as a bookkeeper, warehouse manager, shipper/receiver, asset manager, or purchaser.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, mentorship, leadership skills.
Technical knowledge of the following is desirable:
  • QuickBooks Online
  • Sage Intacct
  • Inventory Management software
  • Working knowledge of a CRM or cloud-based ERP

Reporting: This position reports to the IT Director and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Location: Westbank Office
Benefits: Extended benefits package that includes health and dental, personal days, paid vacation, and RRSP/TFSA savings plans
Salary: $45,000 to $65,000 annually - salary will be commensurate with experience
Hours: Full-time (35hours / week); Mondays to Fridays
