Summary

Reporting to the Area Manager - Saskatchewan, this position will oversee all aspects of concrete quality control services in Saskatchewan including the development of effective quality assurance strategies and the provision of technical product support to the business and its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sound strategic quality control and quality assurance priorities.
  • Work as an integral part of the Saskatchewan Management Team in continually improving our products, our service, technical leadership, and our reputation in the marketplace.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, daily support, and safety leadership to QC department staff.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and analytical procedures to ensure concrete products meet or exceed requirements.
  • Offer lab services for hire. (Breaks, coring, technical opinions)
  • Provide expertise and consultation to sales and operations staff on all aspects of project work
  • Develop strong working relationships with project owners, general contractors, and consulting engineers as the key representative for QC.
  • Recommend changes in materials, product design, or manufacturing processes to optimize costs to meet yearly Continuous Improvement targets.
  • Oversee all aspects of QC data management including mix design development, performance tracking, and management reporting.
  • Provide innovative solutions, technical support and troubleshooting expertise to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Work with our Cement group to align priorities and needs to maintain reliable and cost-effective concrete production
  • Investigate and develop product and process improvements through coordination and analysis of internal R&D
  • Coordinate with Operations/Plant Operators to create strategies for continued quality assurance.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aggregate and concrete specifications, sampling and testing procedures, and constituents of aggregate quality / production
  • Ability to work independently and with a team of QC Techs
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Minimum 5 years in sampling and testing aggregates, plastic concrete, and familiar with mix designs
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset
  • Project Management training is an asset
  • Stonemont software experience preferred
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • CCIL certification preferred

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment both inside and outside with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
