Railcar Welder Job at OWS Rail Car

OWS a division of Milman Industries is looking for a Railcar Welder. The Railcar Welder will be responsible for all aspects of railcar repair and maintenance. The ideal candidate must be able to read and understand blueprints, make car repairs in compliance with FRA & AAR rules and keep good repair records. They must also ensure all company guidelines are met and all safety rules are followed when performing duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs; the focus is providing a complete, accurate, realistic, and timely repair to our customers
  • Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
  • Notify the supervisor of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure the completion of job tasks
  • Communicate and interact with crew members and the supervisor daily
  • Follow all safety rules, keep the work area clean, and comply with all GRS Environmental Health and Safety Policies.
  • Ensure AAR, GRS, and customer quality assurance standards are met
  • Other duties as assigned including special projects
  • Travel is a must

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write English at a high school level
  • CWB 4 position certified with good mechanical skills
  • Able to work safely around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, and railroad tracks
  • Must work in all types of weather conditions
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical skills and ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to independently establish work tasks to successfully meet expectations and scheduling deadlines
  • Perform/ prioritize multiple tasks with attention to details
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to follow work orders
  • Able to work at heights/ confined spaces is required
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel-toed boots, eye protection, earplugs, gloves, hot work PPE, and fall protection gear
