Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Nurse will be a member of an integrated service delivery team, providing care and treatment to patients presenting to the Airdrie Urgent Care Center. Utilizing professional knowledge, clinical judgement, technical and interpersonal skills, the RN will assess (including triage), plan, implement and evaluate patient care in the Urgent Care setting. It is expected that the Registered Nurse will follow established policies and procedures as well as demonstrate current nursing knowledge in their practice. Strong communication and leadership skills are valued. The Airdrie Urgent Care Center (UCC) is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week and provides care for unscheduled non-life threatening health conditions to a diverse population. The Airdrie UCC is located within Airdrie Health Center, which offers a wide range of services including Urgent Care, Mental Health, Public Health and Home Care. Please note: this position is located outside of the Calgary city limits (25 km north of Calgary).

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

ACLS required. Current certification in IV Therapy. Current triage skills required. 3-5 years’ experience in an Emergency or Urgent Care required. Understanding of the concept and delivery of Urgent Care. Evidence of integrity, initiative and sound judgement. Demonstrated commitment to professional development. Excellent interpersonal and team communication skills. Demonstrated accountability for own practice. Demonstrated strong prioritization and assessment skills, ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognized institution preferred. TNCC, NRP, EPICC, PALS preferred. CTAS course preferred. Recent charge nurse experience within Emergency or Urgent Care highly desired. Recent rural nursing experience, an asset. Pediatric experience, an asset.
