Myron Thompson Health Centre is in a rural community in West Central Alberta. Registered Nurses work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/emergency room and continuing care environment. This environment is suitable for candidates who enjoy the challenge of providing a broad spectrum of nursing care and who have experience in such settings as emergency room, medical/surgical, cardiac, and labour and delivery. The incumbent is also depended upon for leadership to Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Attendants in caring for our acute and long-term care clients. Myron Thompson Health Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long-term care beds, 4 restorative beds and a five-stretcher emergency department. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness. You may be eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness if you meet other eligibility requirements.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving ability in a charge nurse role in an acute care setting. Significant experience in preferably multiple acute clinical settings such as emergency room, acute care, medical/surgical, cardiac and labour and delivery. Demonstrated achievement in continual professional development and maintaining clinical competence. Current completion of the following Alberta Health Services facilitated con-ed, or other employer equivalency is advantageous in this competition. Internal applicants submit a MLL education summary. Informed consent - basics. Informed consent – adults with impaired capacity/ minors and mature minors. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including shift work. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for Health Care Provider.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Course, MORE OB, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Lead 2 cardiac monitoring and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale.
