$35.52–$50.85 an hour

Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care within the ECT and TMS Service. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. In the event there are no qualified applicants, this posting will be used as a training opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
o A minimum of one years related clinical experience in the past three years in acute mental health.
o Current BCLS and ALCS certification required.
o Successful completion of the Post Anesthetic Recovery Room Course or Critical Care certification through a recognized community college (Preferred).
o Perioperative certification preferred.
o Ability to handle ECT/TMS equipment during procedure
o Demonstrate knowledge and skill with Electrocardiograms
o Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment.
o Demonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy and Advanced IV Therapy.
o Controlled acts authorized to nursing for the PARR/critical care settings and/or delegated controlled acts.
o Current knowledge of post anesthetic recovery room techniques as evidenced by an in-depth knowledge of nursing standards in accordance with the Ontario Peri-Anesthesia Nurses Association of Canada (OPANA).
o Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of nursing standards as they apply to the care of perioperative patients/clients.
o Current Safe Management Group and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification specific to Mental Health Nursing.
o Proficient in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments including mental status examination, suicide risk assessment, violence risk assessment, and knowledgeable in the development of crisis and discharge planning.
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and related professional associations.
o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Working knowledge of computers.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.

o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
