Job Profile: Registered Nurse

A critical member of the HHS team, the ideal RN candidate has the knowledge, skill, judgement and abilities to contribute in all phases of the continuum of client care. HHS is seeking an RN with experience in Occupational Health. As part of the Emergency Medical Team, the RN will ensure that injured workers are provided with immediate onsite medical care, and to advise and/or arrange timely transport to a medical facility as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide client care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching

· Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice as defined by the provincial licensing body

· Conduct occupational health assessments, including audiometrics, drug and alcohol screening, in collaboration with other nursing staff and medical team

· Ensure that clients are provided with immediate and professional medical care, and advise and/or arrange timely transport to a medical facility

· Always act in a manner that ensures the client’s dignity, safety, privacy and confidentiality

· Be familiar with work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Ensure that injured workers are provided with immediate and professional on-site medical care, and to advise and/or arrange timely transport to a medical facility

· Always act in a manner that ensures the client’s dignity, safety, privacy, and confidentiality

· Be familiar with work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Take reasonable care to use safety and personal protective equipment as required by health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures

· Report to Syncrude supervision and management immediately after any incident or condition believed to be hazardous to worker’s health and safety

· Refuse work if danger is imminent or not controlled

· Read, understand, and comply with Syncrude's Medical Control Guidelines, Safety policies and Job Procedures, as well as applicable government laws and regulations

· Work within their applicable scope of practice determined by their licensing body and under the medical control of the Syncrude medical director, utilizing the Syncrude Medical Control Guidelines

Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Emergency Care / Critical Care / Occupational Health setting or equivalent experience

· Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse or Bachelor of Nursing program

· Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)

· An OHN certificate/diploma is an asset

· Audiometric Testing - Technician Certificate an assest but the right candidate would be trained

· Spirometry Testing - Techician Certificate an assest but the right candidate would be trained

· Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support

· Current International Trauma Life Support (advanced)

· Complete site-specific orientation as required

· Current Standard Field Level Tickets, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS, Common Safety Orientation

· Previous experience in Industrial or Oil & Gas sector is an asset

· Medically and physically fit to provide emergency response functions

· Physically capable of working in adverse weather environment and conditions

· Willingness to work shift work, including nights, willingness to work shifts with little notice.

· Ability to successfully obtain clearance for a pre-employment alcohol & drug screen

Shift : 3 Days , 3 Nights , 6 off

Local to Fort McMurray candidates only. Shifts can vary from days and nights.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50.00-$55.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 12 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Night shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
