British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) maintains and operates two of Metro Vancouver’s three SkyTrain lines. SkyTrain is the first and one of the longest, fully-automated, driverless, rapid transit systems in the world. It boasts an average on-time service performance rating of 95 per cent and moves on average 250,000 passengers per weekday.

Both the SkyTrain lines operate out of BCRTC's Operations and Maintenance Centre in Burnaby, where more than 900 dedicated staff work in the areas of administration, engineering, elevator and escalator maintenance, field operations, vehicle maintenance, and wayside (station and guideway) maintenance.

The Ride Quality Monitor reports to the Manager of Engineering Asset Performance and is responsible for assessing the ride quality of trains either in revenue service and/or under test conditions.

The incumbent will assist gathering data required to establish the causes of poor ride quality. This will involve visual inspections of trucks, measurements of wheel and rail profiles, and noise measurements. Standard forms will be used to report the findings of inspections and measurements.

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Minimum of three (3) years maintenance experience leading toward a relevant Journeyperson Trades Qualification.

Documented experience in a maintenance environment with extensive exposure to electrical, electronic and mechanical repairs, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Experience with heavy mobile equipment or rail transportation preferred.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. 40 hours per week.

Wage: $40.91 per hour.
