Position Summary

Are you experienced with OH&S Legislation and safe work practices in the construction industry? Have you conducted site inspections and lead safety meetings with the goal to educate? Do you enjoy visiting multiple build sites and working with different people regularly? If so, we would like to hear from you!


This position will report to the Safety Manager and will be responsible for creating, executing, and providing an oversight of safety on our jobsites throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. As a leader in safety, you must demonstrate clear and effective communication both verbally and in writing. This will be accomplished by successfully building and maintaining strong relationships with all site designates, operations, and team members. This is a full-time position that will require flexibility, determination, and a positive go getter attitude.


Job Description

  • Responsible for implementing and developing all aspects of the safety program for the site supervisors, field crews, and sub-trades.
  • Prepare and conduct safety meetings to increase awareness on specific safety hazards and processes.
  • Prequalify all potential sub-trade companies using Eagles guidelines.
  • Safety manual review, making SJP and SWP to maximize safety of critical tasks, new Eagle Builders field orientations and sub-trade orientations, train new workers in WHMIS, complete and follow-up onsite inspections conducted, hazard assessments and keeping updated and current with all aspects of safety.
  • Update and ensure statistic/trends/paperwork is tracked and entered in our system.
  • Supervision of workers, both Eagle and sub-trades, daily to correct un-safe acts and ensure safety conscience attitudes and work.
  • Ensure first aid is available, kits are stocked, and fire extinguishers are readily available and in proper working condition. Ensure all other addition emergency equipment is available as required.
  • Ensure safety supplies (respirators, filters, hearing protection, fall protection etc.) are stocked in field vehicles. Ensure proper supplies are available in job boxes and sea-cans.
  • Investigation and follow-up of all incidents, first aid recorders and near-misses
  • Create safety packages and maintain prime contractor jobs.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site designates about job startups, construction phases and project completions to ensure safety compliance at each interval.
  • Ensure sub-trades have up-to-date WCB clearance and certificate of insurance

Assets

  • NCSO designation
  • Industrial, commercial, multi-story residential and agricultural construction knowledge or background
  • Knowledge of British Columbia and Saskatchewan OH&S, WHMIS, WCB and related legislation
  • Understanding of SiteDocs or related safety software

Requirements

  • WHMIS 2015 Train the trainer certification, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift and Standard First Aid certification
  • Knowledge of Alberta OH&S, WHMIS, WCB and related legislation
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Reliable and available to work away from home Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday
  • Minimum 44-50 hours per week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
  • Local to central Alberta or willing to relocate to central Alberta
