Senior Accountant

Chilliwack, BC (Hybrid)

Our client is reputable manufacturer who is motivated to bring on a new Senior Accountant to join their team. This position will be based in the Eastern Fraser Valley but is a hybrid position and part of the job can be done from home. The successful candidate will still need to reside in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley, as some duties will need to be conducted in person on a weekly basis. This position is responsible for taking on the full cycle accounting process, including collections, preparing management reports, budgets, forecasts, and leading all tax planning. Given the manufacturing environment, the successful candidate would preferably have some experience in a production setting (but isn’t necessary).

A positive attitude, exemplary communication skills, along with strong attention to detail, are all traits that will cause you to excel in this role. A successful candidate will be collaborative in nature, as you will work with other departmental leaders and stakeholders from within the plant. An individual who enjoys a manufacturing ‘cost accounting’ environment, and is a driven self-starter, are essential attributes for achievement in this role. On top of the flexible work setting this senior accountant position also comes with the potential for growth opportunities to one day becoming a Controller level position.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage daily cash, card, wire, cheque, and collection balance, and prepare monthly forecasts
• Consolidate all accounting, collections, and budget reports
• Issue sales invoices and delivery receipts
• Prepare and review financial documents and contracts, making sure organization is in compliance
• Enter and update customer data within ERP system
• General accounting administration (financial reporting, inventory accounting, etc.)
• Lead the department in tax planning

Requirements

• 5-10 years bookkeeping/accounting experience
• A minimum of level 3 accounting studies completed
• CPA or CGA Designation preferred but not necessary
• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles – ability to create a handbook
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Office Suite
• Detail-oriented and a strong communicator
