The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team in the capacity of Senior or Associate Hydrogeologist. This position will be primarily based in Mississauga, however, there will be flexibility to work from any of our office locations in Ontario. The successful candidate will operate as a Senior or Associate Engineer /Hydrogeologist/Geoscientist within the Ontario Mining and Environment business, to help deliver existing projects. Ideally, as a Senior/Associate Hydrogeologist with WSP, you will bring 15+ years of prior experience working in the field of Hydrogeology within a consulting firm. This role will focus on the delivery of technical input and review related to projects in the Mining and Infrastructure Sectors.

A day in the life:

  • Provide technical expertise in one or more fields of water resource hydrogeology, including: dewatering projects, groundwater supply, mining, numerical modelling, infiltration processes, private development applications (Guideline D-5-5), Permit to Take Water Applications, water balances, etc.
  • Report Writing;
  • Provide technical input to support preparation of work plans and cost proposals for new work mandates;
  • Provide excellent Client management to existing and potential clients;
  • Collaborate with other disciplines within WSP with respect to multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Completing, or directing, background documentation reviews, field investigations, data analysis, numerical modelling, and preparing reports to document findings;
  • Completing, or directing, field investigations including soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, and overseeing drilling or excavation contractors;
  • Senior review and assist in mentoring junior staff as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

  • Degree specializing Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Engineering (groundwater) or related discipline
  • 15+ years of experience as a hydrogeological consultant in the engineering consulting industry;
  • Possess, or be eligible for a P.Eng or P.Geo License in Ontario;
  • Experience completing and planning hydrogeological and environmental monitoring/investigations;
  • Knowledge and experience in field practices and site investigation and characterization techniques including groundwater modelling;
  • Knowledge of groundwater related regulations in Ontario;
  • Knowledge of construction industry or mining practices would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is flexible to work on a wide variety of projects, tasks and assignments, responding easily to changing priorities;
  • Peer / Expert Review experience, including published articles/conference materials, will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent English (verbal /written) communication skills;
  • French or Spanish language fluency will be considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
