We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Facilities to join us in the exciting work we do in Energy Infrastructure team. You will work with internal and external parties at all levels. It’ll be your responsibility to provide facility-related technical expertise in process/mechanical design and to lead project management activities for facility upgrade, integrity, and maintenance projects. In this position, you also get to act as the point of contact for their assigned facility and will drive continuous improvement through collaboration with other departments and management

What Else You Get To Do:

Technical & Engineering Expertise

  • As an engineering representative, act as the point of contact for Commercial, Operations, Integrity, Project Execution, HSSE, and other internal groups
  • Provide facility related technical support through facility life cycle
  • Equipment sizing & design calculations, plant process and pipeline modeling
  • Mechanical and process design for small scale facility changes (including stamping for P.Eng, if required)
  • Technical drawing creation, updating, and maintenance (including authentication when necessary)
  • C onsolidate and track all ongoing projects, initiatives, and operational issues associated with assigned infrastructure assets
  • Solving and optimization of facility’s process and/or equipment . In Addition to a ssessing and interpreting data to determine a course of action or providing a recommendation to management
  • Active involvement in incident investigations as well as participating/leading in HAZOPS, PHA, and Facility Impact Assessments

Project Engineering & Management

  • Complete capital and maintenance projects as project manager and project engineer to manage all assigned projects; including planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, cost tracking, forecasting and some project controls to meet commitments to customers
  • Involve key customers, including Operations, Engineering, Regulatory, and HSSE during project execution
  • Champion technical work aligned with project drivers and goals
  • Provide project and technical guidance of 3rd party engineering firms performing work on existing facilities
  • Ensure projects are developed promoting a safe work culture and environmental standard processes
  • Align with, and champion project management policies and procedures
  • Oversee and provide guidance/training to Engineers, Interns, Summer Students, and Support staff
  • Support continuous improvement for project management/execution systems, work processes and procedures

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Work with the HSSE department and committees to ensure that ATCO standards and OH&S requirements are followed
  • Align with corporate standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Familiarity with and incorporation of regulatory and industry codes, standards, directives, bulletins and guides
  • Participation in the annual Corporate Emergency Response Planning Exercise
  • Active involvement in the joint health & safety committee

Who You Are:

  • Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)
  • P.Eng with registration in Alberta and minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas industry; PMP designation would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to interpret detailed technical and commercial requirements and create, implement, and manage effective and fully integrated project-specific business processes such as the formation, drafting, tendering, award and management of the various contracts for equipment, materials and services.
  • Proven ability in leadership, critical thinking, change management, process, and implementation strategies to optimize both quality and cost-effectiveness of services to achieve performance objectives.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills to successfully guide the work of others including consultants, contractors, and other vendors and ability to adapt to the frequently changing needs of the business.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible and steadfast.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety and regulatory requirements
  • Constantly improving technical skills and knowledge through attendance at trainings, courses, industry meetings, and workshops.
  • An ability to work effectively across a multi-functional team while supporting conflicting priorities and deadlines.
