Job Summary:

Toyota Canada Inc. currently has an exciting opportunity in our Finance & Accounting (F&A) department. This is a permanent full-time opportunity and will report to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Accounting. The selected candidate will support the F&A team in the achievement of departmental and organizational goals, support accurate internal and external reporting of financial data in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and offer other accounting guidance to internal and external team members and stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Month End/Year End Financial Close Activities

  • Plan and coordinate the period end activities
  • Ensure team stays on schedule and flag any risks
  • Monitor the month end progress and resolve accounting/system issues with F&A/IT
  • Follow up on pre-close and post-close items
  • Ownership of balance sheet accuracy and presentation of consolidated results at financial close meetings
  • Key contact and support for external auditors, for interim and annual audit
  • Support to prepare leadsheet, notes, supporting schedules and audit financial statements

Preparation and Coordination of Financial Reports

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports and check for data integrity
  • Prepare & upload shareholder reports
  • Coordinate with F&A teams to complete shareholder reporting and other required reports in adherence with deadlines
  • Maintain the report distribution list of Executives for monthly financial package and distribution
  • Review and prepare various Statistic Canada reporting

Manage Day to Day Operations and Support Team

Balance Sheet Reconciliation:

  • Review balance sheet accounts with F&A members, provide guidance, and identify follow up items to ensure accounts are reconciled on monthly basis, flag any risks to management

Chart of Account Maintenance:

  • Maintain GL chart of accounts: Review account change requests and advise the best approach of chart of account set up to accommodate IFRS, costing, reporting, budgeting and business requirements to user requests.

Support Team:

  • Provide backup support to Treasury Analyst
  • Provide guidance and ad hoc support to accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury and fixed asset functions
  • Work with team(s) to confirm the accuracy of data to support reporting deliverables and requirements; recommend & suggest reporting efficiency opportunities

Special Ad Hoc Projects and Other Supports

Ad hoc projects to study and kaizen accounting processes:

  • Initiate and implement appropriate 'kaizen' efforts towards work efficiencies relating to cost reduction, improved time and process efficiencies
  • Identify and proactively act on opportunities to continuously improve internal processes such as developing and refining working templates/models, reports and developing SOPs
  • Serve as lead in discussions and partnership with IT towards process improvements

Other Supports:

  • Provide tax audit support in relation to accounting
  • Other special projects as required

What You’ll Bring:

  • University/college degree in accounting
  • 1-2 years designated (CPA, CMA, CGA)
  • 4 + years of work experience (1-2 years of audit firm experience, an asset)
  • Experience partnering with business units
  • Current IFRS accounting knowledge
  • Knowledgeable in accounting processes and internal controls over financial information
  • Experience with account reconciliations and analysis
  • ERP system experience coupled with Financial Reporting tools (SAP experience preferred)
  • Experience in Corporate Reporting, Treasury, Fixed Asset and Accounts Receivable
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
