Job Description

The Canadian Reinsurance Administration team manages approximately 570 Manulife reinsurance agreements, with over $300 billion in ceded risk and $800 million of annual premiums. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Reinsurance Administration Specialist to join our team.

Reporting to the Director, Reinsurance Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for administering ceded business with moderate to complex issues. The prospect will have the opportunity to work with cross disciplinary teams within Manulife. The Canadian Reinsurance Administration team is part of the Global Reinsurance Shared Services Centre and would could offer opportunities to work on cross-segment issues and initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Investigate, analyze, and process policy exceptions in the reinsurance administration system
  • Responsible for the completeness, accuracy and reliability of premium, risk and claim information for assigned ceded business
  • Support / lead small to medium projects and clean up initiatives, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Respond to internal or external queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Identify areas of opportunity through detailed analysis and develop / implement recommendations for improvement
  • Identify, resolve, or escalate unusual business trends
  • Conduct / support audits and provide recommendations based on findings
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various departments within the segment and across segments
  • Cross-train and back up day to day functions as required
  • Support, coach, and mentor more junior staff

Qualifications and skills:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Reinsurance Administration
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles, practices, and trends
  • Strong knowledge of reinsurance ceded operations and the supporting business applications and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding deadline driven environment
  • Understanding of moderate to complex reinsurance agreements
  • Strong technical skills with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office

Helpful:

  • Industry relevant courses and certifications
  • Knowledge and experience with TAI 2.3 and 3.7
  • Disability reinsurance administration experience an asset

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Waterloo, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$65,775.00 CAD - $109,625.00 CAD
