Job Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert for Risk Science/Engineering, Management and Process Safety.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative risk assessments and management methods and
solutions for administration of TSSA regulations
  • Contribute to the development of TSSA’s risk-informed public safety strategies in collaboration with the senior
leadership of the organization up to, and including, the Board of Directors
  • Promote the incorporation of TSSA’s risk informed decision making framework into decision making wherever
appropriate (ie. Operations, public disclosures, inspections and audits, etc)
  • Recommend, develop, implement processes, methods, and tools to enhance risk safety data/information
collection and analysis for use by statutory directors in safety issue management.
  • Lead the validation and quality assurance of risk assessment and risk management practices at TSSA and
benchmark activities against appropriate national and international organizations (e.g., Governments, regulatory
authorities, NGO’s, Standard Council of Canada, CSA, ISO, etc.)
  • Review and evaluation of Risk Safety and Management Plans (RSMPs) for propane and operating plants Path 2
  • Prepare and present information to internal and external contacts such as Advisory Councils, Ministry of
Consumer Services, and other stakeholders


Job Requirements:


  • Preferable postgraduate in Engineering and/or Science with specialization in Risk Science and Engineering.
  • Specific knowledge and experience in regulatory RIDM concepts and methods
  • Subject matter expert more than 7 years’ experience in Technical Risk Engineering and Risk Management
techniques and methods which includes development and application of new methods applicable to TSSA’s
regulatory mandate as it relates to Public Health, Safety & Environment
  • Ability to facilitate Qualitative Risk Analysis (FMEA, What If) such as consequence and frequency analysis and
risk estimation.
  • Ability to conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis (Probabilistic Risk Assessments) such as consequence and
frequency analysis and risk estimation.
  • Ability to facilitate Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ability to review and evaluate RSMPs
  • Advanced software application proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Highly proficient in hazard identification analysis software (FMEA Pro 8 or similar).
  • Highly proficient in frequency analysis and modelling software using publicly available (FTA Pro, Reliability
Workbench Isograph, etc.)
  • Highly proficient in consequence analysis and dispersion modelling software using publicly available
(Aloha, Archie, RMPcomp, SLAB) and proprietary modelling software such as Phast.
  • Provide Risk Management training to different internal & external stakeholders
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated capabilities to present, facilitate
and influence
  • Strong project management skills and knowledge
