With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Direct oversight and administration of Occupational Health Department

· Remain up-to-date with current health and OH&S legislation as it relates to occupational health field in meat packing facility

· Develop and implement up-to-date health policies to create a safer work environment

· Ensure strict adherence to health management protocols, medical directives, policies and physicians orders as well as application of policy/procedures and quality nursing care of employees

· Establishes, maintains and reviews confidential record keeping system and adheres to OH&S Regulations

· Oversees health assessment/evaluation of employees returning to work, fitness for duty and medical surveillance

· Monitoring and assessing the health status of employees

· Develop innovative health programs using provincial & federal nursing standards to ensure best practice in the work environment

· Develops and administer disease prevention programs which promote healthy living for the work force.

· Carry out research to ensure best practices are developed for all protocols and procedures within health services department

· Observe employees on the job to assess health status and liaison with safety department to determine risks of injury

· Act as a gatekeeper for different healthcare services like disability and rehabilitation

· Counsel employees on both physical and psychological health concerns and guide them toward the necessary resources or programs

· Perform drug and alcohol screenings, vision, hearing tests and physical examinations

· Liaison with public health, physicians, physiotherapists and other health care practitioners to ensure best practices are developed and to build relationships to work together in best interest of our employees.

· Liaison with Short term & WCB departments regarding ongoing work related & non-occupational claims.

· Educate and train employees and supervisor in the risks they may face in their roles in organization

Qualifications and Requirements:

· RN with current Alberta Registration, Occupational Health Nurse Certification desirable, or minimum 3 years’ experience in Occupational Health.

· Completion of “Health Care Provider” CPR course

· Must obtain certification in Audiometric Testing

· Completion of ITLS course

· Must obtain certification in drug screening & breathe alcohol collection

· Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft office required.
