Service Person / Heavy Duty Mechanic Job at CENTRAL CITY ASPHALT LTD.

CENTRAL CITY ASPHALT LTD. Alberta

We are a locally owned road & street construction and paving contractor seeking a Service Person/ Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This is a skilled position encompassing many aspects of equipment servicing and maintenance.

This position will involve out of town, overtime field work for the months of May through November. The remainder of the months will consist of 40-hour work weeks (Monday through Thursday) in a shop setting in Red Deer County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fueling of all equipment on site.
  • Daily service and maintenance on equipment (greasing, changing blades on graders, changing teeth on loader buckets, oil changes on pickup trucks and equipment, etc.)
  • Minor repairs on equipment in the shop and in the field.
  • Operate other heavy equipment and construction related duties as required.

Requirements/Experience:

  • First or second year heavy duty mechanic preferred.

Applications will be accepted from students further along in their apprenticeship program. Applications will also be accepted from candidates not in the apprenticeship program but who are very mechanically inclined.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong focus on safety and must use Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Having own tools is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Minimum clean Class 5 license.
  • Must be able to work overtime and out of town May through November. During these months we do not have a set schedule but are able to work up to 24 days in a 28 day period.
  • Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor setting which can include: inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
