Irving Shipbuilding is hiring Spray Painters for permanent, full-time positions in Halifax, N.S., and Matrix Labour Leasing Ltd. is honoured to be asked to support them in finding exceptional Spray Painters to help in the process of assembling Canada's next-generation of warships. The pay rate is $40.33 /hour plus additional skills-based pay incentives and competitive health benefits. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive relocation support. Key Responsibilities:
- Apply safe work practices to all work performed.
- Use and maintain tools and equipment required for performing various work activities.
- Assist in docking and undocking vessels.
- Setup for specified work on a vessel or job site.
- Able to learn surface preparation, and coating application and apply those skills.
- Perform fire watch and confined space watch duties.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Assist skilled trades workers within the shipyard performing general labour work.
- Compartment turnover readiness and cleaning.
- Able to safely and efficiently be able to use different types of power tools.
- Being a team player is a must.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- Less than 2 years of experience.
- Ability to work with different types of materials or products such as general metal products, construction materials solvents, or coatings including understanding or being able to learn mixing industrial marine coatings and products.
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection as required.
- Physical effort and work condition.
- Must be capable of working at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and in extremely confined spaces.
- Frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds.
- You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job.
- A pre-employment physical is required.
