SQL Developer
The SQL Developer will collaborate with stakeholders to design, create, and maintain SQL Server databases and all of its components such as stored procedures, functions, views, and SSIS packages. The role will be tasked with the creation of Kia Canada’s proprietary database to utilize SQL queries, reports, and dashboards based on new and existing business processes. They will be responsible for working closely with internal partners on implementations and enhancements, or when troubleshooting issues.
Responsibilities
- Design, create and maintain SQL Server databases and validating their stability and efficiency
- Develop and optimize in-application SQL procedures, functions, and views
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
- Prepare documentations and specifications
- Analyze all data and processes related to these SQL-based systems and recommend improvements to improve day-to-day operations
- Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
- Profile server resource usage, and optimize and tweak as necessary
- Develop an excellent understanding of Kia Canada’s business needs to ensure the accuracy of reports and dashboards
- Help administer routine and non-routine procedures for application use and security access, monitor KPIs, and gather performance metrics for these systems
- Controls data integration in and out of centralized system, and function as gatekeeper of data flow within’ the organization as well as third party vendors
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience / Education Required
- 3-5 years of advanced knowledge in SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS.
- Post-secondary degree in information management, computer science, or related field of study
- Should have rich experience with design, build, and deployment of SSIS packages.
- Having knowledge on performance optimization techniques for MSBI tool set SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS.
- Experience in creating SQL Server Database tables, Indexes, Views, and ETL scripts for data replication from non-relational database to SQL Database
- Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases
- Capable of configuring popular database engines and orchestrating clusters as necessary
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
- Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
- Nice to have: Experience in MS Power BI development
