Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Engineering Standards Office is looking for a Standards Assurance Analyst to support the Standards Assurance team in the development, implementation, and administration of audit and assurance programs and monitor compliance to processes and technical requirements while assessing deficiencies and making recommendations for corrective actions.

Reporting to the Manager, Standards Assurance this role will support the analysis and interpretation of patterns and trends in complex data sets using statistical tools and create reports and visual representations of data trends and patterns.

What will I be doing?
  • Closely collaborate with engineering leads for the development, implementation and administration of compliance assessments and assurance programs and field verification initiatives.
  • As directed responsible for the extraction of data from primary and secondary sources for use in reporting and analytics to assess compliance status, monitor progress and the identification of issues and performance deficiencies.
  • Responsible for the development of reports, dashboards visual representations and supporting materials to communicate trends, issues, and opportunities to management and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and responds to inquiries and requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Supports the identification and implementation of process, system, and data governance improvement opportunities.
  • Assists in the review and assessment of compliance with asset class engineering requirements, standards, and regulatory requirements by agency delivery divisions and as directed by agency retained and outsourced contracts in areas of design, construction, operations, and maintenance including reviews of technical documents, reports and drawings.
  • Supports the development and assignment of numerical values to essential functions so that the performance can be assessed and compared over periods of time including formulating asset information requirements and structured classifications.
  • Supports the development of data requirements, classifications, and management strategies.
  • Supports quality assurance processes.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a University Degree, or Diploma, in Engineering, Engineering Science or Management, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the engineering field.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills for queries, writing reports, and making presentations.
  • Knowledgeable in change and risk management and assessment initiatives.
  • Able to support the development, selection and communication of metrics and performance results of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Possess strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data
  • Knowledgeable of database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
  • Knowledgeable of statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
  • Knowledge of data visualization software like PowerBI or equivalent platforms.
