We are seeking a Steel Slit Operator to join our team. This role is essential in our process of preparing steel for our clients' specific needs. The successful candidate will have experience in operating machinery, preferably in the steel industry, and have a keen eye for detail.

**Responsibilities: **

1. Operate the steel slitting machine to cut rolls of steel to the correct size and specifications.

2. Perform setups and adjustments to the slitting machine as necessary.

3. Interpret work orders and measurements to determine job specifications.

4. Regularly inspect the machine to ensure it's in good working order, performing routine maintenance tasks and troubleshooting any issues.

5. Monitor production process to identify and rectify any faults or inconsistencies.

6. Ensure the final product meets quality standards and customer specifications.

7. Keep accurate records of material and production data.

8. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

9. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, escalating any issues or concerns promptly.

**Qualifications: **

1. High School diploma or equivalent. A vocational or technical degree in a related field is a plus.

2. Previous experience in a similar role or in a steel manufacturing environment is preferred.

3. Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

4. Strong understanding of measurements and the ability to perform arithmetic operations accurately.

5. Ability to lift heavy objects and operate machinery safely and efficiently.

6. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and precision.

7. Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

8. Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.

9. Willingness to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

10. Must be able to stand for long periods and be flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends if necessary.

**Physical Requirements: **

1. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

2. Must be able to stand for extended periods.

3. The role involves some physical labor, including bending, stooping, and reaching.

4. Must have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with hand and power tools.

**Working Conditions: **

The Steel Slit Operator will work in a plant environment and must be able to tolerate variations in temperature and noise levels. This role involves handling heavy materials and operating machinery, so adherence to safety guidelines is critical.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
