The Spatial Data Analyst applies advanced spatial data management, analysis and presentation techniques in support of technical and professional staff in the ministry, sector or industry. This position is responsible for creating geospatial outputs to promote and support expansion of reliable high-speed connectivity to rural, remote, and indigenous communities across British Columbia.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Post secondary diploma (or higher) in geomatics, resource management, geography, computer science or related field, plus one (1) year *related GIS experience.

Experience:
*Must include one (1) year related GIS experience in each of the following:

  • Experience designing and developing customized spatial analysis and presentation materials in support of a clients’ business needs.
  • Experience developing and managing large spatial and attribute datasets, specifically ensuring accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and completeness.
  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS for spatial data analysis and mapping.

Preferred Requirements:
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

  • More than one (1) year related GIS experience.
  • Experience automating or scripting solutions for repetitive tasks (using tools such as Python, Model Builder, FME).
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry in BC and/or federal telecommunications regulatory system.
