Summer Student - Finance Job at City of Woodstock

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Accounting Coordinator/Deputy Treasurer, the Finance Summer Student will assist with the following:

  • Month-end general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assistance with implementation of new software initiatives.
  • Back-up support for Finance Clerks during vacation & peak transactional cycles.
  • Documentation and creating training documents (related to above duties)
  • Filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 and must be returning to a post-secondary school.
  • Working towards an Accounting Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Experience in an office environment preferred, ideally with exposure to accounting procedures
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Applications with a focus on Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and to prioritize to meet inflexible deadlines.
