Duties

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses and community organizations
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of local events and tourism services
  • Develop strategies to increase tourism to the area through the promotion of attractions, accommodations, and events
  • Expand leadership skills by organizing committees of volunteers, delegating tasks, assigning shifts, and maintaining a positive work environment
  • Motivate your team and encourage them to work together. Communicate with a variety of people to share information and feedback and resolve conflicts
  • Manage budgets and track expenditures
  • Provide guidance to tourists on attractions and events within Haldimand county and specifically Caledonia
  • Be available for on-site tours of the Grand Trunk Train Station in Caledonia
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

Client Service - ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with clients. At work, client service skills are required to interact with clients on behalf of the employer.

Teamwork - ability to interact with other people. At work, people work with others in pairs and in small and large groups to coordinate tasks, share resources, plan, make decisions, negotiate, solve conflicts, and complete other activities that involve teamwork.

Communication - ability to exchange thoughts and information with other people. This exchange can happen orally by speaking, listening, and using non-verbal cues such as body language or in writing.

Digital Skills - ability to understand and use digital systems, tools, applications, and to process digital information.

Leadership Skills - including strong communication skills, relationship building, the ability to delegate, and other traits such as honesty.

Eligibility

Candidates must be enrolled in a Post Secondary program to be eligible for this position.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 13 weeks
Part-time hours: 30 per week

Salary: $21.00 per hour
