TITLE: Employment Services - Support Worker

POSITION STATUS: Full Time – Temporary (8 weeks- Canada Summer Job) (Non-Union)

SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week (flexibility required as needed)

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a provincial leader in the Deaf community. Our mission is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. We are a highly motivated, collaborative team on a mission to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We take a person centered approach that aims to support and make a positive difference in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Support Employment Services (ES) department with understanding client/individual employment related goals
  • Researching appropriate resources
  • Developing vocational related workshop lesson plans
  • Facilitating workshop related activities for groups (in-person/online)
  • Support with ES related administrative tasks and/or support with ES Supervisor during Employment Counselling/client related employment goal focused meetings
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or currently enrolled in Social Services or a related field and some experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities / learning challenges, mental health needs and/or dual diagnosis
  • Experience working within the Deaf community and some proficiency in American Sign Language is preferred
  • Experience with workshop facilitation and 1:1 support for individuals who have a disability
  • Experience supporting in a job support program is an asset
  • Demonstrated self-driven learner who is eager to show initiative on work projects and has excellent time management skills Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in computer literacy (including, but not limited to; Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Valid Ontario Full G Driver's License (with access to car) and clean driving record an asset
  • French language/ LSQ an asset
Canada Summer Jobs Requirements

  • Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be able to commit to full 8 weeks at 35 hours per week
