Title: Clinical Support Worker
Location: Surrey BC
Position Status: Casual on call. Casual staff submit availability monthly and must be able to work at least three shifts per month, if needed.
Reports to: Program Supervisor
Salary: Starting at $22.25 per hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

Job Summary:

Clinical Support Workers are responsible for providing day-to-day support, direct assistance, supervision, and monitoring of residents at Phoenix House. They also provide seasonal support to the Extreme Weather Shelter, as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect for others.
  • Promote good relationships with coworkers (build trust, share information with others, accept and express suggestions or feedback in a positive, constructive manner, be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others).
  • Orient new residents to the facility, verify, authorize and issue resident swipe cards.
  • Monitor entrance of residents and visitors to the building
  • Build rapport with residents and respond to their concerns, thoughts, and feelings with respect.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff in the integrated services model combining clinical addiction, housing, employment and educational services.
  • Utilize appropriate reporting systems to communicate to staff any client concerns.
  • Seek out professional development opportunities and share knowledge including attending staff meetings, educational events and mentoring junior staff.
  • Administrative tasks such as
    • Photocopying
    • Assisting with case documentation
    • Database entries
    • Filing
    • Preparing new client files
    • Professionally answering phones

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications:

  • Two year diploma from a post-secondary education and training relevant to the addiction treatment field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
    • Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the addiction services field within a community setting, assisting those affected by substance misuse, concurrent disorders, unemployment, lack of education, criminal justice involvement, homelessness and poverty-related issues to become active participants in the social, economic and cultural life of the community.
  • Ability to apply trauma-informed practices to clinical care
  • Strong collaborative approach to delivering and developing programs and services
  • Proven communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English
  • Current Tuberculosis Screening Certificate
  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems
  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Criminal Records check for working with vulnerable populations
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and driver's abstract
